     Army School No.1 was opened on 12 July 1993 in the premises of the Grenadiers Regimental Centre, Jabalpur. Initially three single men living barracks were provided by the 'Grenadiers Center' to open classes from class I to VI. However, within a short period of time two additional barracks were also provided to the school to increase the number of classes. As a result, Army School No.1 Jabalpur was able to provide education up to class "IX" in the academic session 93-94. CBSE New Delhi accorded recognition to the school in Dec 93 vide their letter no affi/10372/8745-549 dated 22/30 Dec 93. Class X and XI were opened in 1994 and class XII science and commerce later in 1995. Humanities stream for class XI started from Aug 2009.

      Army Public School No.1, GRC, run by the Army Welfare Education Society, is affiliated to the CBSE New Delhi. It consists of group of defense educationalists, technocrats and physiologist. Army Public School No.1, GRC not only intends to attain greater heights in the field of education but also works to inculcate moral values to make every student an efficient future citizen. Congenial learning environment is provided in the school to encourage informal academic interaction and team work with the objective of preparing students in imbibing human values and a sense of punctuality, discipline and sincerity.
